The Farron Mountain range is a two hundred mile long string of mountains spanning straight west from the mid edges of Human Territory, sweeping south west through Lycan Territory, then curving west to the center of Elven Territory.
The tallest peak, Mount Naramaen has snow year 'round, and soars to a height of twenty-five thousand feet. This is where many of the dragons on the Continent come to breed and raise their young until the hatchlings have been taught all they need and have had their first few hunts. Mount Naramaen borders the edges of Lycan and Elven Territories, settling in the twenty five mile wide strip of no man's land.
The peaks on either side of Mount Naramaen are Mount Naerma, to the south, and Mount Kotamae to the west. Mount Naerma soars icily to thirteen thousand feet and rests among the frigid snows and frost pine forests of Lycan Territory. Her skirts trail east and north though Lycan Territory, becoming foothills, filled with icy, frigid streams and rushing, roaring rivers and falls. The Lycans have their own name for her... "Emjara Siondiolysi." Angry Tempest. The storms that rage on her sides are some of the more severe snowstorms during Winter's grasp.
Mount Kotamae is smaller, and more peaceful. Her peak summit is a mere nine thousand feet. Snow only covers the tip over her rocky peak, trees extending to about three thousand feet before tapering and thinning of to reveal her bare bosom of stone. The stone contains a great deal of rose quartz, agate, and, deep within her bowels, a rich supply of opal deposits. Her base rests ten two miles into Elven Territory, skirts spreading across the southern, western and northwestern areas along Elven Territory. The mountain is peaceful, her rolling, sloping foothills lush with life and plants of all kinds. Rainstorms are long and replenishing. Winter is much milder than her sister's season, snow falling deep, but not so deep to make travel impossible.
Mount Kotamae contains the most successful opal mine on the Continent.
Now we go to the peaks on Human Territory. The most prolific is Mount Farron, named for a long past Human hero. It soars to the height of twenty thousand feet. Dark, shadowy hardwood forests of oak, walnut, black maple, and Hawthorn trees line it's base, intermingled with open areas of windswept plains, soft wood forests of aspen, alder and birch, ash and elderberry trees lining dark watered rivers and streams.
Mount Farron is joined by a brother mountain to the west, Mount Nordan, also Human named. Rising a meager height of four thousand feet, this mountain is more tree than mountain, rising to its peak by way of treacherous cliffs and wooded slopes. Between these two mountains runs on of the main Caravan roads, which means that the wood around these peaks are thick with bandits, waiting to make a quickly squandered fortune off of the misfortune of others.
The hills are full of carefully chosen and concealed Bandit camps and hide-outs. Not a forest you want to go around in alone, armed or not. The bandits and brigands have also discovered something the human King has not; Both mountains are rich with gemstones. Some of the bandits have come away from the hills to travel to the Elven Kingdom to enjoy their wealth.
Many more mountains, most without names, make up this range. Some unexplored.
